Top Take-Away 1:
How do we operationalize "vulnerability" to foster a culture of trust in order to mobilize our best selves in every action, moment, and experience that can ever be.
Top Take-Away 2:
Data will be the biggest enabler of point 1, but how can we shift to use data in a fluid and holistic way that no longer focuses on the story frame that the business wants to see things in. So how do we reimagine the lens' available at any one time to interpret and put things together in ways that are just the story that's meant to be.
Top Take-Away 3:
All relevant data on human experience optimization is publicly available and we do not have to wait for our organization to "discover" it to say it is usable.
"Our decision making processes can minimize possibilities in innovation and science as we wait for consensus which inherently requires that we all understand things at the same level and hold the same priorities. In waiting for all thumbs to go up, we are a) reducing the possibilities to be bold b) lowering the average outcome c) eroding

In waiting for all thumbs to go up, we are a) reducing the possibilities to be bold b) lowering the average outcome c) eroding the original intention and thus actively resourcing diminishing returns. Continuous learning and a focus on transcending traditional outcomes will be key here." "Too often we are caught up with making our story line-up with the data. Then we get caught up in how clean the data is, who else needs to be involved to get it all done again, and basically strive for perfection in a journey that will very unlikely deliver that perfection. Looking at the statistics means looking for significance and impact only. Don't let perfect get in the way of great."
"Love is an immutable natural force that is central to our lives. We can't keep saying for the purpose of maintaining industrial culture that it's not.
It is most often defined by effort or romance. It speaks to the social animal in us and gives us ability to expand our sense of self to those around us and we begin to care about others’

It is most often defined by effort or romance. It speaks to the social animal in us and gives us ability to expand our sense of self to those around us and we begin to care about others’ wins and losses to the same degree that we care about our own wins and losses. Love in the organizational context could be treated as an expansion of our sense of self, but we must first dismantle the fear and see why we have a tough time with it."
"The most universal strategy for success is in creating meaningful connections with those that impact you, your life and the things you care about. Starting to have a formal dialogue about connections within the organization as networks can help you as a leader to be more successful in the things you do. Fusing working teams with things needed to get to know eachother and leveraging their unique skills and experiences is essential to unlock the true value within all of us as individuals and different team make-ups."
"We’re finally now all talking about being strategic partners of business and change - impressive to uniformly be at this stage for the first time after years of it being spoken about sporadically."
Closing Comments:
Has HR been the heart of the organization all along? Has Covid given us space to remove the fear of expressing our natural drive to have an industrial culture where humanity is the core value? Have we called out the BS and started to say the usable data has existed all along?
After more than 27 events and countless more group meetings with senior HR practitioners in NYC in just 5 years, this is the magical turning point where we are having the conversation that we've all been shouting silently to have for far too long.
It's an exciting time for our children to enter the world because I know that with this energy, intention, and intelligence, their experience will be richer, fuller, and far more expressive than most of us have ever had yet.
